A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL EDWARD OWUSU

Last week was a BUSY week! Congratulations to 12th grader Sarah Thomas who was selected as a US Presidential Scholar! This prestigious academic award is a first in school history at CHS and Sarah is one of two selected from the state of Maryland. (See Bethesda Magazine article here).

Congratulations to our Boys Volleyball team who won in decisive fashion the Montgomery County Championships. In fact the following teams won their respective athletic divisions for Spring Sports.

  • Baseball (1st ever!!!)
  • Softball
  • Boys Tennis
  • Girls Tennis
  • Boys Volleyball

Up next is Girls Softball as they make a run for state title as well as Track & Field in Regional and States competition!

Congratulations are also in order to the CHS Archery Team who attended the NASP National Archery Tournament this Friday and Saturday, representing our school alongside almost 12,000 of the best young archers in the US.

This week is the last full week of school for Seniors. Next week 12th grade students will have a staggered end of class attendance schedule (See Here). All MCPS Chromebooks loaned to seniors must be returned next week. With less than 10 days left we are preparing for a grand celebration at the Class of 2022 Commencement to be held at Mount Saint Mary's University. All 12th grade parents and guardians are invited to attend an important senior meeting that will be held this Monday, May 16 at 7:00 PM at CHS. For those unable to join us in person a hybrid virtual option is available (Click HERE for Zoom link). This Tuesday, those seniors involved in the Dual Enrollment and P-Tech programs will be recognized by MCPS and Montgomery College in a Recognition Ceremony at the Universities at Shady Grove. Later in the week we will honor achievements of many seniors at our annual Senior Awards Night on Thursday.

Testing continues this week as we will be running the AP exam, as well as the state mandated MCAP assessments. PLEASE, PLEASE REVIEW THE LINKED SCHOOL BELL SCHEDULES. We are asking students and families to be diligent about finding out when and where they are supposed to test.

MCAP

  • MCAP is a graduation requirement for ALL students. Seniors who do not participate will not graduate in June.
  • Students can find out which assessment they need to take and where they are testing in this document.
  • More information about the tests, dates, and the schedule were previously sent out and can be found here.

Students need to bring their Chromebooks to school for both the MAP and MCAP assessments and wired headphones (if they have them)

AP Testing

  • AP exams will continue through this week. More information about the tests, dates, and the schedule were previously sent out and can be found here.
