A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL EDWARD OWUSU

Clarksburg High School Students, Staff, and Families,

There is a lot of information for the week. Please read this important newsletter.

This week is a busy week at CHS. There will be a PTSA sponsored Community Awareness Meeting this Tuesday, March 22 via Zoom to increase awareness while decreasing usage of alcohol and drugs of students. Special guest speakers will be on hand. In addition there will be a Well-Being, Safety, and Security Parent Voice Focus Group Meeting on Thursday at CHS, as well as a College Essay Writing work session to be held via Zoom. Please see the PTSA note in the newsletter regarding these meetings.

This Wednesday and Thursday will see MODIFIED Bell Schedules. Wednesday March 23 will is SAT Day for ALL 11th grade students. In addition selected 12th grade students needing to take the Accuplacer Assessment for Montgomery College admission will test. Mock AP exams will be given for certain classes identified by teachers. Students will NOT have any academic classes until the afternoon on Wednesday, when at that time they will have periods 6, 7, and 8 only. Students that are NOT testing will wait until lunch and afternoon classes. School Bus service will operate as normal for all students that need it. Students departing school after testing should provide a note to the attendance office. Please see the remainder of the newsletter for more details (or the bell schedule HERE).

Thursday, March 24 is an Early Release Day with school ending at 12 pm.

It was a celebration of excellence this past week as we celebrated our annual Top 25 Ceremony. This celebration honors academics at CHS, by celebrating those 12th grade students who earned the highest weighted GPA's. This year, there were so many students in the upper weighted grade point averages that 25 was expanded to 40. You can see the TOP 25 Presentation HERE.

Spring athletics competition will officially begin this Monday. You can see the full schedule in the newsletter. As a reminder, spectators and athletes should adhere to MCPS R.A.I.S.E standards of sportsmanship. That is the Clarksburg Way.
