Principal's Weekly Update

Good morning Clarksburg High School Families:

Tomorrow we officially begin the 2021-2022 academic year. We are looking forward to welcoming all students back to school. For those students driving, using carpool, or walking please be careful. Look out for pedestrians and obey traffic patterns. For those students taking MCPS transportation, please also be safe, wear your mask, and follow the rules. Monday morning students will report directly to Homeroom Classrooms. (See HERE).

As stated before safety must remain a priority at all times. All students and adults are encouraged to get vaccinated. All students, staff, and guests entering the building at Clarksburg must wear a mask. Masks must be worn at all times for the duration, while inside the building. In an effort to provide enough space while transitioning to and from classes, we will utilize outdoor spaces as much as possible, opening our courtyard doors to enable more space for students to transition from class to class, as well as providing an additional space during lunch. Speaking of lunch, CHS is a closed campus and does not allow students to leave campus for lunch or order food for delivery.

ALL STUDENTS SHOULD BRING THEIR SCHOOL ISSUED CHROMEBOOKS AND CHARGERS BEGINNING MONDAY. Chromebooks for Grade 9, 11, 12 will be replaced with updated Chromebooks that current Grade 10 students already have been issued. Students that were never issued Chromebooks will be provided with a Chromebook. Please note: All students need an MCPS Chromebook.

As mentioned in a midweek message MCPS made the decision to restrict the number of adults in our school buildings who are not employees.  Based on this decision, Clarksburg High School's Back-to-School Night on Thursday, September 2 will be a virtual online event. It will still begin at 7:00 PM. The Senior College Information Night meeting will also be virtual online and begin at 6:15 PM. Parents/Guardians will receive an email message on Tuesday with Zoom link instructions allowing them to meet with staff in classroom groups on Thursday.

School pictures will be taken for underclass students and faculty during English classes on Wednesday, September 1st through Friday, September 3rd. Students will be told in class what day of the week the photo will occur. Friday we will celebrate the return to school and the beginning of our Fall Sports Season with an outdoor Pep Rally during the school day.

Due to the change to Back to School Night, CHS Boosters will be at the school on September 8th and 9th from 11am-12pm to distribute orders from the online spirit wear store in early August. They will be located in the main Commons area. Students should be prepared to provide the name used to place the online order.  Boosters will also have orders at home football games for pick up.
