Principal's Weekly Message

CHS Seal

Good morning Clarksburg High School Families:

Some important and timely information is contained within this weekly news update.

This week students will have alternate regular and block schedules on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday due to State of Maryland required testing. Testing times vary so please see the linked information. Friday will be an Early Release Day with school ending after lunch at 12:00 pm. Teachers will be preparing mid-quarter interim grades for students and families.

If students or your child need any help, in any subject, come to room 101, Mrs. Coe's room at lunch for free peer tutoring. Additionally, the CHS National Honor Society offers free peer to peer tutoring. Students may sign up for tutoring by completing a request form. (See NHS Tutoring Request Form)

The CHS Homecoming Week is right around the corner, October 18-22. Homecoming includes hallway decorating, spirit week themes of Pajama Day, Jersey and Sports Day, Wacky-Tacky Day, Costume Day, and Battle of the Classes. In a addition a fantastic Powder Puff Football Game is planned during our Pep Rally. The Homecoming Dance will be spectacular! Dancing will occur outdoors under heated, lighted, and tented facilities. There will be games and activities for all. Clarksburg students that wish to bring a current MCPS student from another school will need to print and complete the linked Out Of School Guest form. Please see the information contained in the newsletter.

Do you remember those cartoons where some Wyle Coyote would cause all sorts of trouble just to wind up getting consequences that taught a simple lesson. Well unfortunately students around the country are making a few bad choices with consequences you should know about in advance. We are aware that there is a social media challenge suggesting students perform illegal and/or inappropriate tasks. We are extremely proud of our students for following our Clarksburg High School rules, procedures, and motto of "Be Good. Do Good." Please be aware that if a student were to perform an illegal or inappropriate action, we will assign appropriate consequences in alignment with the MCPS Student Code of Conduct. (Please also see an MCPS message linked in the newsletter.)

Every one of us have an obligation to ensure that ALL our staff and students are safe at all times. Thank you for your assistance in keeping Clarksburg High School a great place for Leadership, Scholarship, and Relationships.

In this newsletter you will find information about college and university visits to CHS, Homecoming Plans, MCAP Testing, and more.

As always, thank you for your continued support and trust. Together we are Clarksburg!
