Clarksburg High School Students, Staff, and Families,

This Monday we celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. Schools are closed. This entire week we celebrate the spirit of service in the fashion of MLK. Please check out the Service Opportunities for students. Please see the important information in this newsletter. (Please click this link to see our weekly newsletter.)

This Monday, the country will pause to remember the man who helped change the nation, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Clarksburg High School celebrates the Martin Luther King Jr. Week of Service this week with activities that earn student service learning hours (Please see link HERE). By giving of ourselves in the service to others we emulate the compassion and spirit that is a tenant of our motto to Be Good and Do Good, but also a hallmark of Dr. King.

This coming week, we'll be collecting all Acer C771 model Chromebooks along with chargers from 11th grade students. Please remind your students to bring their Chromebooks and chargers. 11th grade students will then receive a Lenovo 300e and charger. These are the same Chromebooks that 9th, 10th and 12th grade students currently have. If students have already received a Lenovo 300e, they do not need to have it exchanged. If students do not bring a charger, they will still be able to receive a Lenovo 300e.

The course registration process for our current students continues this week. Grade 11 students will receive course registration information this week in English classes. Incoming grade 9 students and families currently in middle school should see this registration information: Incoming 9th Grade Registration Materials

Senior students and parents - The TENTATIVE Date for our CHS Commencement Ceremony in June 5, 2023 at 10 am at Mount Saint Mary's College. We look forward to celebrating our Class of 2023 graduates in June!

As an athletics reminder CHS Basketball games have moved to Tier 1. This means student school identification cards are required for students, and only students at participating event schools may attend games alone. Students under age 18 may attend games with an adult if they attend another non participating school. Adult must stay for duration of the game.

The Clarksburg High School College/Career Center provides in-person services daily from 7:15 am through 3:30 pm. Visit the Career Center website and Career Center on Twitter: @Cburg_Readiness. Join the Career Center Canvas page. If you have questions, contact Mrs. Somerville. Check out the Campus Visits Calendar (Class of 2023 and 2024)

The Campus Visit's Calendar is located on your Naviance homepage. Juniors and seniors must register online in Naviance to attend all campus visits. Please see the link for instructions. The Admission Representatives visiting CHS would like to meet you! Check out more information in this newsletter.

As we now settle into the middle of the winter weather season, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is improving its process for informing the community when weather requires an operational status change and when a closure might justify a shift to virtual instruction. When it is determined that conditions are unsafe for students and staff, we have six operational status options, which will now be reported by easy-to-understand, color-coded messages. Read the full message here to learn more: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/publicinfo/community/school-year-2022-2023/Community-Message-20230113.html

In this weekly message you will find information about our upcoming PTSA meeting, Yearbook Advertising, upcoming visits from higher education representatives in our College & Career Center, athletics schedules, and more.

Please check out the CHS Newsletter Here: https://www.smore.com/q840e

As always, thank you for your continued support and trust.

And remember, together we are ONE Clarksburg!
