Principal's Weekly Message

CHS Seal

A message from Principal Edward Owusu

Clarksburg High School Students, Staff, and Families,

Hopefully you are a little more rested after clocks have moved back one hour back due to the end of Daylight Savings Time. Please continue to be vigilant during morning drop-off looking out for pedestrians, bikers, and other vehicles. Please wish luck to the Spirit of Clarksburg Marching Band which looks to complete its undefeated season with a State Championship today at Towson University. The Coyotes perform at 3:00pm. GO BLUE!

Schools are closed for students Monday due to a staff professional day and grading. Tuesday is election day and schools are closed. Make sure you get out and vote.

Congratulation to CHStage for a great opening night of The Play That Goes Wrong. You have three more opportunities to see the production this coming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Registered Juniors and Seniors will take the Maryland Seal of Biliteracy Test this Thursday. Students earning the Intermediate High level of proficiency on an Avant STAMP assessment can earn the Seal Pre-Graduation! Then focus on AP-IB for potential college credit.

As the holidays approach there are families who may struggle with this special time in the year. Please check out the information about our Holiday Giving Project within the newsletter.

Registration for Winter Sports has begun. Registration occurs via ParentVUE. Parents and Caregivers can register students for the following sports: Basketball, Bocce, Cheerleading, Indoor Track, Poms, Swim & Dive and Wrestling. Tryouts start November 15th.

AP Exam Registration and Payment information have been sent to families. The opportunity to earn college credit in an AP course is acquired by taking the AP exam associated with the course and is dependent on the AP exam score and specific college requirements. Exams for AP courses will occur during the first two weeks of May 2023. More information is available in this newsletter.

Senior students and parents - Please review these slides provided during the Senior Meeting.
