Message from the Principal

I hope you and your family had a wonderful spring break!  As we return from the break, we look forward to closing out the third marking period and transitioning to the fourth marking period.  Please be reminded that the end of the marking period is Friday, April 16th (which is also a professional day).  With the end of the marking period so near, please continue to encourage your students to stay engaged and finish the marking period strong.

We are excited to welcome some of our students back to in-person learning on Thursday, April 8th!  The first group of seniors will return to Wootton on Thursday, and we cannot wait to see them.  Seniors who will be returning either this week or next week will receive a connect-ed message confirming their return to school.  Parents and students can also see this information in ParentVUE and StudentVUE.  Contact Ms. Cocker, senior administrator, or your student’s counselor for any questions or concerns regarding the return to in-person learning.

Please see below for weekly schedule reminders for seniors and for all of our students for this week.  As always, all of our schedules can be found on our website.

Classroom Monitors Wanted

As we prepare for our return to an in-person learning experience, we anticipate a need for adults to support the supervision of students.  If you know any adults with a high school diploma/GED who would be interested in monitoring students at $15.72 per hour, please encourage them to apply to be considered for the position of classroom monitor. Duties include monitoring classrooms for teachers who are providing virtual instruction to students in the building and supporting in-person teachers.  Interested individuals need to apply on https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/careers/ Select "list of jobs," and classroom monitor is listed there.

We do anticipate the need for classroom monitors at our school, however, we cannot guarantee our site would be the location all interested individuals would be assigned to work.

Special Education Parents Asked to Complete Important Survey (English and Spanish)

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and MCPS want to hear from you.

MSDE has mailed the Maryland Special Education Parent Involvement Survey to all parents/guardians of students with an IEP in Montgomery County. Families of kindergarten–Grade 12 students should have recently received the school-age version of the survey, which takes the place of the preschool form mistakenly sent out in February. Parents of preschool-aged children with an IEP in Montgomery County are also invited to fill out the survey.

Parents/Guardians have the following options:

Complete the correct, hard copy of the survey (the school-age version mailed on March 22) and mail it back in the postage-paid envelope received from MSDE or complete the survey online here.

Participation is voluntary and anonymous. Complete a separate survey for each child receiving services. The information provided will help guide the state’s efforts in improving special education and related services in public schools.
