Ms. Shawaan Robinson, Principal

Ms. Shawaan Robinson is excited and humbled to lead the dynamic community of learners and staff at Briggs Chaney Middle School in Silver Spring, MD. Ms. Robinson has been an educator for 26 years. She has worn many hats during her career. She has been an elementary school teacher, elementary and middle school counselor, pupil personnel worker, assistant principal, and principal intern working in various school communities.  Ms. Robinson is a native of Washington, D.C. where she currently resides with her two sons and her mom.  She is passionate about building relationships and creating the learning conditions for students to thrive. 

She is proud to join the Briggs Chaney Bears and her vision simply states- Believe in Equity and Access and Relationshps for all Students!

Erika May is a proud alumna of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). She grew up in the local community and attended Briggs Chaney Middle School and graduated from Paint Branch High School. As an MCPS professional with more than 15 years of experience, Ms. May has spent her career dedicated to supporting students, families, and educational professionals within the Northeast and Downcounty consortium communities. Throughout her tenure in MCPS, Ms. May served as a special education paraeducator, school counselor, resource counselor, and assistant principal. In these roles, she’s had the privilege to work with leadership and staff to maintain quality instruction and provide all students with greater opportunities for success. With her collaborative spirit, Ms. May strives to be a driving force behind the healthy social, emotional, and academic development of students today, so that they can be productive leaders of tomorrow. Ms. May is thrilled to return home to Briggs Chaney Middle School and give back to the community that she knows and loves.

Mr. Ahmed Adelekan is an educator who has been an administrator in Montgomery County Public Schools for the past 5 years.  He grew up in the Washington Metropolitan area.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of the District of Columbia in Mass Communication.  Mr. Adelekan completed his Master’s Degree from Bowie State University in Special Education.  Prior to administration, he taught Social Studies as a Special Educator for 8 years on the high school level.  He is married with two sons who are currently in elementary school.  He has a passion for education and wants the same high-quality education for all students that he wants for his own children.  

 

Mrs. Kellner is excited to join the Briggs Chaney administration team. She will be the 7th grade administrator and will support Math, World Languages, Media, and Electives. This past year she was a high school administrator. Previously, she was the Staff Development Teacher and Math Resource teacher at a middle school.  She also spent nine years teaching upper and primary elementary school. Mrs. Kellner earned her undergraduate degree from Towson University, earned her masters degree at Hood College, and received her administration certificate from Hood College.  Her core values include relationships, communication, and reflection. She has two young children in elementary school and her husband is a high school PE teacher.  She is looking forward to the opportunity to support staff, students, and families this year.
