Ms. Kayla Johnson - Content Specialist, Algebra and Math 8  email

Hello, I’m Ms. Kayla A Johnson, the Math Content Specialist here at Briggs Chaney Middle school. I’ll be teaching Math 8 & Algebra this year. I’m from Brooklyn, NY, but I’ve made Maryland my home. I attended The University of Maryland, College Park for undergrad, and completed my graduate studies at George Washington University. I’m certified to teach Math and Science, and I’m delighted to be a part of the Math team this year. Together we’ll conquer great challenges, achieve new heights, and succeed beyond our greatest measures.

Ms. Kimberly Bet - Math 6  email

I grew up in Northern NJ with four brothers and extended family members as my neighbors. I completed my undergraduate Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary & Kindergarten Education with Pennsylvania State University and my Master’s degree in Special Education with Towson State University. I started my career teaching first grade, then second grade, in Baltimore City for four years before transferring to MCPS. I have spent my entire career of over 24 years in MCPS teaching at Briggs Chaney MS. I have had the opportunity to co-teach with many different talented teachers in all three grades and in all the major academic courses. I sponsor three different after school activities, Girls’ Softball Team, Chess & Board Games Club, and Tennis Club because I believe it’s important to give our young people a chance to have a variety of experiences and activities outside of academics in order help them grow as well rounded individuals.

Mr. Darryl Boston - Math 6 and Math 7  email

Teaching is a rewarding experience. I teach so I can learn about the world and all of those infinite possibilities that brand new minds bring to me each and every day. I graduated from Delaware State University receiving a BA in Special Ed. (K-12) and Elementary Education (Levels 1-6). Years later, I earned a MA in the area of Curriculum Design and Instruction, from National Louis University. I have over 20 years of teaching experience having taught at Briggs Chaney for the past 10 years. When I am not in school, I enjoy spending time with my family, coaching basketball and playing golf.

Hello fellow BCMS Bears! This is my first year at Briggs Chaney Middle School, but my 27th year of teaching in Montgomery County Public Schools. I’ve taught middle school math for 10 years; from Math 6 to Algebra and everything in between. I’ve lived nearly my whole life in Montgomery County, attending Brookhaven Elementary, Belt Jr. High (now Loiderman Middle School), and Wheaton High School. I went to the University of Maryland for my undergrad studies, and then back again for a Master’s degree in Math Education. I also have a Master’s degree in Gifted Education from Johns Hopkins University. When I’m not at school you can find me working in my garden, reading a book at home, or enjoying time on the water. I am lucky enough to live in Edgewater (near Annapolis) and love to spend time on the South River and the Chesapeake Bay.
