IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR SOCCER TRYOUTS!!!!!

SOCCER TRYOUTS WILL BEGIN TUESDAY MARCH 5^TH!!!

REGISTRATION WILL NOW CLOSE MONDAY MARCH 4^TH!!!

Spring Sports:

Attention all 7th and 8th grade parents whose child is interested in trying out for the boys and girls soccer team.  Please find some important information below. If you have any questions please reach out to the athletic coordinator Jason Thibeault at Jason_L_Thibeault@mcpsmd.org. 

1. Vaccination for COVID-19 is strongly recommended for student-athletes but is no longer required. This change to the vaccination requirement applies to summer conditioning and the upcoming fall season. The change is due to community transmission levels, vaccination rates, and analysis of activities (mostly outdoors). Vaccination requirements are subject to change, pending the latest guidance from the Student-Athlete Medical Advisory Committee for MCPS Athletics, in collaboration with the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services. 
2. Students must register for spring sports on ParentVUE. Registration for middle school spring sports opens January 29th at noon!!
3. Students must have an up-to-date physical on file. Once a physician has completed the Pre-Participation Form, you may upload it to ParentVue, have your child turn it into the nurse or email it to Jason Thibeault.  Physicals are good for two years so if your child has had one in the last two years they do not need a new one.
4. Students must have above a 2.0 GPA for the second marking period to be eligible to try out.
5. Tryouts are projected for Tuesday, March 5th, 2024.  Tryouts are after school from 3:15-4:20pm.  Students will need a ride or can use the activity bus.  Students who are not registered will not be able to try out.  Registrations will need to be submitted by the end of the day on March 4th in order for your child to try out.

Intramurals:

Intramural sports is for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Intramurals will take place after school 2-3 days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.  They take place 3:15-4:20, students who stay for Intramurals have the opportunity to take the activity bus home. A permission slip is needed for a student to participate in Intramurals.  The permission slip is available below.  It can also be found in the main office for your child to pick up.  Permission slips can be emailed to the Intramural director Jason Thibeault Jason_L_Thibeault@mcpsmd.org. Intramurals will begin shortly, they will NOT be meeting this week.  An update on intramurals will come later this week.
