Teachers

  • Mrs. Humma Asad: I have over 16 years of teaching experience in Montgomery, Howard, and Prince George’s County Public Schools, Montessori, and as a PTA Elementary Representative at the American Embassy School in New Delhi. I have four grown children of my own-two boys and two girls.  My oldest daughter is a tenth-grade English teacher!  I am so excited to be joining Lucy V. Barnsley Elementary School as a second-grade teacher, where Barnsley Bears C.A.R.E! I am a graduate of Towson University-Go Tigers! and my name “Asad” means “Lion” in Arabic.   “Lions, and Tigers, and Bears Oh My!  Mrs. Asad has a SOARing Pride!” When students enter my Lion’s Pride, they enter a pride that SOARs- Safe, Organized, Act responsibly, and Respectful wherever we go. I am originally from Pakistan and have traveled extensively, where I love to learn about various cultures and celebrate the diversity in my Pride.  In my free time, I enjoy time with my family on hikes and other fun outdoor adventures. 
     
  • Mrs. Heather Barr: I have been working at Lucy V Barnsley for the past fiveyears teaching first grade and now second grade. I enjoy spending time with my family and two chihuahuas, three cats and of course, my turtles. On weekends I can be found hiking along the Potomac river or fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. I am looking forward to a great year!

  • Mrs. Jessica Hahn: I have been teaching at Barnsley for 15 years and absolutely love this community! I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at the University of Maryland and obtained my Master's degree in Instructional Technology from Johns Hopkins University. I have three children who are 10, 8, and 6 years old, and we recently got a new puppy named Cookie! I love watching Disney movies with my family and playing board games like Candyland, Blokus, and Sorry. I look forward to a wonderful school year! 

  • Mrs. Dara Kaplan: This is my 24th year teaching in Montgomery County Public Schools and my 18th year at Barnsley! I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade.  I am very excited to be teaching 2nd grade this year and look forward to working with all the families and students. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, traveling, shopping at farmers markets and spending time with my husband, 2 grown daughters and dog, Cooper.
     
  • Ms. Allie Lamb: This is my 3rd year teaching! I graduated from Towson University a dual degree in Elementary Education & Special Education. In my free time I love to go for walks, spend time with my family or friends, or read a book. I have two little sisters. I am looking forward to working with all of you this year!
