Free Family Day at KID Museum
You are invited to a free STEM focused Family Day at KID Museum on Sunday, April 23, 2023! The entire school community including students, staff, and their families is invited to this school-wide STEM opportunity that will allow for your students to explore KID Museum’s state of the art makerspace, while promoting a sense of school spirit. During your visit, you will be able to explore coding, robotics, engineering design, and hands-on maker learning.
SGA Spirit Week
Hey Argyle, SGA Spirit Week is coming March 13th to 17th. Get your outfits ready as we show out our Argyle spirit and participate in themed days of: SPORTS Monday, TWIN Tuesday, SUPERHERO Wednesday, WACKY HAIR Thursday and Argyle SCHOOL COLORS of purple and teal on Friday.
March SGA Meetings
The SGA invites all students to attend our March 8th and March 22nd, after school in room 206. Students, you want to make things happen at Argyle? Then be sure to attend a SGA meeting so your voices and ideas can be heard. Students, do you like to color and are creative? Then come out on Monday, March 13th, after school in room 206 and earn SSL hours as you create placemats for Meals on Wheels, bringing smiles to senior citizens who benefit from the Meals on Wheels program.
Spring Fundraiser
Our spring fundraiser has just begun! Students will be raising money using the Fund Hub platform from now through March 17. This is a pledge-style fundraiser, and students will participate in a whole-school Wellness Day focused on building resilience on March 8, including a Read-a-Thon, a Math-a-Thon, a Walk-a-Thon, and a Code-a-Thon. Please login to the Fund Hub platform to set up your child's account and share their link with family and friends who would be interested in donating to our cause! All proceeds will go toward offsetting the cost of grade-level field trips that enhance student learning at Argyle.
Community Letter for Signs of Suicide Awareness
MCPS is enhancing its suicide prevention curriculum using the Signs of Suicide® (SOS®) Prevention Program. SOS® is a youth suicide prevention program that has demonstrated an improvement in students’ knowledge and adaptive attitudes towards suicide risk and depression, as well as a reduction in actual suicide attempts.
National Junior Honor Society Application
The application process for the National Junior Honor Society has officially started. The NJHS is an honor society for well-rounded students based on grade point average. Criteria for induction include a minimum overall GPA of 3.5 and reflecting the values of respect, responsibility, and reflection. Contact Ms. de Leon Barrientos (arely.l.deleonbarrientos@mcpsmd.org) for a printed copy of the invitation letter and recommendation form. Applications will be accepted until March 1st at 12:00pm.
Parent Info Meeting for Registration at 6pm Monday 1/9/23
Hello 6th grade and 7th grade Argyle Families, We will be hosting a Parent Info Night for course registration. This meeting is only for 6th grade and 7th grade families. This week, students have been learning about academic advising, and learning about courses for next year. At the meeting, we will be supporting parents with our course registration website, and how they can sign up for classes. Students have had the opportunity to learn about the magnet pathway, discuss with classmates on different course videos, and use a capture sheet to take notes and rank their favorite classes. If you are unable to make the meeting, we will have a recorded version you can watch!
Winter Dance
Students, the SGA will be ringing in the new year by hosting a Winter Dance on Friday, January 13th. Get your dance moves and shoes ready for what will be a good time. Tickets will cost 55 PBIS points. The fun will start right after school in the Gym and end at 5pm so be sure to have a ride home when the party ends. Also, don't forget to bring some pocket change as the SGA will be holding a BAKE SALE.
