MCPS Stronger Student Mental Health and Wellness App Now Available


The free MCPS Stronger Student mobile app is now available via the Apple and Google Play stores. The project was led by students who designed, built and held focus groups for the app. For secondary students, the app provides access to crisis support resources or other mental and physical health/wellness needs, including reporting incidents of discrimination. SMOB Nominating Convention

The Student Member of the Board of Education (SMOB) Nominating Convention will be held on February 15, 2023 at Watkins Mill High School. Delegates from across Montgomery County Public Schools middle and high schools will convene to elect the two finalists for SMOB. Summer RISE

Summer RISE is an initiative led by the Montgomery County Public Schools’ (MCPS) Department of Partnerships in collaboration with businesses, government agencies, higher education institutions, and nonprofit organizations. The program is for rising MCPS juniors and seniors to participate in a career-based learning opportunity during the summer. Students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning opportunities related to their field of interest. Click here to read more and apply.


SSL Information and Updates

All MCPS students must earn 75 SSL hours to graduate from high school. SSL forms should be submitted to the school’s SSL coordinator no later than the required deadline of June 2, 2023. MoCo EmpowHER Spring Leadership Institute

Attention Middle School students! The MoCo EmpowHer Spring Leadership Institute application is open. The Institute is a three month program where participants attend bi-weekly Zoom workshops on strengthening leadership skills and understanding of women’s activism, including public speaking, intersectionality, implicit bias, and team dynamics. Montgomery County Councilmember Youth Advisory Council

Councilmember Laurie-Anne Sayles is launching a Youth Advisory Council for her office. She is looking for 12 individuals to serve on the Youth Advisory Council. Members of this council will gain necessary experience learning more about the inner processes of the Montgomery County Council. They will work with my team and me to share youth priorities on budget proposals, legislation, community programs, health and safety initiatives, and more. To learn more and apply, read here.
