Proud to be an IB World School
Welcome to Julius West Middle School. We are proud to be an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School committed to providing challenging academic standards and promoting global understanding for all of our students in grades 6, 7, and 8.
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is one of four programs developed by the International Baccalaureate Organization. It is a five-year program designed for students in grades 6-10. The Middle Years Programme shares common educational principles with the IB Primary Years Program and the IB Diploma Program, including an aim to develop internationally-minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, to help to create a better and more peaceful world.
International Baccalaureate Mission
"The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right."
The policies for International Baccalaureate World Schools are living documents that describe how the school implements its IB programs. As such, they link the school's practices to central policies that are implemented at a district level and describe how the school administers its programs. Any questions regarding policies or their implementation may be directed to the program coordinators.
