Overview of Benchmark Advance

Rosemary Hills ES is one of eleven schools in Montgomery County piloting the 2022 Benchmark Advance reading and writing curriculum. Last year, all school were providing instruction with Benchmark Advance 2018, however with the new 2022 curriculum, the instruction is aligned with Science of Reading research and is a core language arts program that provides a cohesive structure for the development of literacy skills and content knowledge. Every day, students are being taught an explicit and systematic phonics lesson, so all students are provided with foundational literacy skills. Lastly, Benchmark Advance 2022 reaches the needs of each learner and ensures cultural inclusivity.

Here is a letter that went home the first week of school to explain Foundations and Routines within Benchmark Advance: click here.
