Forest Oak Middle School Summer Reading


Due Date:    Friday, September 9, 2022

What is expected?

Step 1:  Start at the Forest Oak Media Center Summer Reading website 

Step 2:  Check out a book from the SORA site or

Step 3:  Read any book of your choice.  

Step 4:  Complete one of the following options and turn it in by September 9th, 2022 for a prize.

  • Write a journal entry in the role of a character from the book you selected.  Discuss how the character might feel about the events that are happening in the novel and their reaction and thoughts to what happened.
  • Create a visual representation that connects to the theme, plot, or major events.  Include a paragraph description about how it connects to the story. Examples of visual representations include:
    • Poster
    • Art artifact
    • Diorama
  • Write a summary of the novel.  Include plot elements in your summary; characters, setting, conflict, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. 


What if I want to read more?

  1. Read any book that is age/content/reading level appropriate.
  2. Have a parent, guardian, or trusted adult sign off on the Reading Log on the back of this page.
  3. Turn in your signed page to Ms. Mahoney and select a book of your choice to keep.
