Closure Dates for School Relocation to Fairland:

Dear Parent/Guardians:

The purpose of this message is to inform you that Burnt Mills Elementary School has been approved to close one day early before winter break (December 22) and one day later after winter break (January 3).

The day before winter break will be used to give staff time to pack materials from classrooms and offices in preparation for your move. The day after winter break will be used to give staff time to unpack materials for classrooms and offices.

• Students' last day before winter break is December 21, 2021. Student should not report to school on December 22, 2021.
• Students' first day after winter break is January 4, 2022. Student should not report to school on January 3, 2022. 

The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) winter break schedule is December 23, 2021, through December 31, 2021. Burnt Mills’ schedule with students will run through December 21, 2021, and resume on January 4, 2022.

Dear Parents,

Burnt Mills Elementary School is scheduled for modernization from January 2022 to August 2023. During that time, the school will be housed at the Fairland Center. Fairland Center is one of the older school buildings in Montgomery County and space for onsite vehicular activity is very limited. As safety is our priority, we would like to ask those of you that normally elect to drive your children to and from school consider allowing them to ride the buses. School buses are the safest form of transportation on the roads and we are committed to living up to that expectation.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. We look forward to transporting your children and wish them a safe and successful experience while at Fairland Center. La Escuela Primaria Burnt Mills está programada para su modernización (construcción) desde enero del 2022 hasta agosto del 2023. Durante ese tiempo, la escuela se ubicará en Fairland Center (13313 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Spring, MD 20904).

Fairland Center es uno de los edificios escolares más antiguos del Condado de Montgomery y el espacio para la actividad vehicular en ese lugar es muy limitado. Como la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes es nuestra prioridad, nos gustaría pedirles a ustedes que normalmente deciden llevar a sus hijos a la escuela en carro, por favor, consideren permitirles viajar en los autobuses escolares.

Los autobuses escolares son la forma más segura de transporte en las carreteras y estamos comprometidos a proveer un servicio sumamente segura y confiable.  Gracias de antemano por su cooperación.
