Candace Ross, Principal
Welcome to Kensington Parkwood Elementary School! I am both honored and humbled to serve the students, staff, and parents of this community. Our future together will be defined by building the academic foundation and positive relationships that will provide each student with the educational foundation and tools to lead productive, healthy and happy lives beyond their elementary school experience. I have full confidence that, as a united and collaborative community, we will continue the excellence of Kensington Parkwood.
During my career with Montgomery County Public Schools, I served as the principal intern at Glenallan Elementary School. Prior to that, I served as the assistant principal at Cannon Road Elementary School in Silver Spring for two years, and assistant principal at Forest Oak Middle School for seven years. I bring to the Kensington Parkwood community a positive nurturing attitude with a focus on high expectations and development of student leaders. I have the perspective of what awaits our children as they leave elementary school and how to best prepare them so that they can continue to be successful and productive students and citizens of our community.
I am proud to be a part of the Walter Johnson cluster. My commitment is to ensuring that our school is one where all students are actively engaged and challenged to achieve at high levels in a supportive learning environment. I will work with the community of parents, staff and students to ensure that this vision is realized for our students.
On a personal note, I am a daughter, sister, wife and mother of two. My daughter is a junior at the University of Maryland College Park and my son is in eighth grade. My time outside of school is spent watching my son play baseball and relaxing with friends and family.
I am positive that you will find that I bring an energetic, positive attitude and a profound commitment to Kensington Parkwood every day. I will quickly get to know each of your children, what their goals are, what motivates them, and work with staff to determine the support they need to meet their goals. I believe strong relationships are the foundation of the success of every school and I welcome the opportunity to begin building these relationships with you. I am excited to continue our work as a school community to ensure, “Our eagles are ready to soar to great heights.”
Natalie Hambrecht, Principal Intern
Hello Kensington Parkwood Eagles! I am thrilled to continue my work at Kensington Parkwood Elementary for a third year while completing my Principal Internship with MCPS’ Leadership Development program. I have cherished the relationships I have formed with the students, families, and staff, and of course value the amazing learning I have been fortunate to experience in our amazing community.
I have been with Montgomery County Public Schools for the past sixteen years. I began my career as a second grade teacher at Highland Elementary School. Later I moved into the Academic Intervention position and then made the switch to the Staff Development role. I have spent the last two years at Gaithersburg Elementary School as a part time Instructional Coach and part time English as a Second Language (ESOL) coach. Each career opportunity has presented amazing learning opportunities and most importantly beautiful relationships with students, staff, and community members.
I am a proud wife and mother. I have three daughters who keep me on my toes constantly, challenge my patience daily, and fill my life with love, joy, and pride.
I am honored to lead the Kensington Parkwood community alongside Principal Ross. I value shared accountability, growth mindsets, and family. My hope is you will see this come across in all aspects of my work here at KPES. I look forward to an amazing year ahead!
