Meet Mrs. Zimmerman, Greenwood Principal
While I did move around a little during my childhood, as the daughter of a Marine, I completed my education here in Montgomery County attending seventh and eighth grade at what was at the time Montgomery Village Intermediate School, before graduating from Watkins Mill High School. Following high school, I attended Elon in North Carolina, obtaining my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Soon after I returned to Montgomery County Public Schools as fifth grade teacher, I earned my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Bowie State University. In 2013, I completed my Administration and Supervision certification with Hood College.
Although my time in MCPS has afforded numerous opportunities for me to lead and change the trajectory of student achievement, my greatest achievement comes not professionally, but personally. I have been the wife to an amazing husband for the past 15 years and mother to four beautiful children: Kelly (12), Timmy 11), Chris (9), and Cassie (8). It is often noticed that I treat the children I work with like my own. I would want nothing less than the best for my personal children, and therefore, I will do the same for your children.
I have served in a variety of roles within MCPS including teacher, staff development teacher, instructional specialist, assistant principal, principal intern, and now principal. I have been the principal at Greenwood Elementary School since July 2018 and it continues to be one of the greatest blessings I have had to serve this community in my 20 years with MCPS.
