Clarksburg High School Students, Staff, and Families,

This Monday is Columbus Day/Indigenous People's Day and a non instructional day for students. Tuesday is staff/student make up picture day. Wednesday is PSAT Day & Senior Meeting/Photo Day. All students and families should review the schedule and information HERE. Thursday and Friday are regular bell instructional schedules. Friday night is the Clarksburg Cluster Night. All Elementary and Middle School families are invited to our Home Football Game & Activities. Register HERE.

 

It's bittersweet news to share that Ms. Cintonya Somerville, College & Career Information Coordinator, has taken a new position in MCPS and has been promoted to Career Advising Cluster Lead. Ms. Somerville leaves CHS having made it better for many students and families. CHS wishes her all the best - Coyote Blue is attached to you, Ms. Somerville. Until a new College and Career Information Coordinator has been hired, please direct inquiries to Ms. Andrea Garris, Resource Counselor. More details about a new College and Career Coordinator will be shared soon.

 

Don't forget to register for the Girl's Summit coming up at CHS. Click here to register. Please be sure to check student attendance, as that can be a marker for success or disappointment. Make - Up Picture Day

Tuesday, October 10th is staff/student picture make up day. ANY student or staff member can have their picture taken (or retaken) on this day. Students have been instructed to ask teachers during any one class for permission to go get their photo taken in the AUDITORIUM.

 

MCPS to Host Girls' Summit

The district is inviting all MCPS families to the Girls' Summit on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Clarksburg High School. This event will provide informative workshops geared towards middle and high school girls on a variety of current topics. Join us for a chance to network, participate in fun activities, learn valuable skills and enjoy a fashion show presented by White House Black Market celebrating diverse body types!

Sessions will be provided in English and Spanish, and will be organized by grade level. Student Service Learning (SSL) hours will be available for students. Topics and activities will include:

Healthy relationships/dating violence

Social media use and mental health, including cyberbullying

Self-esteem

Identifying symptoms of depression and anxiety

Healthy eating and body image

Music therapy, Zumba and Kaiser Permanente spin bikes for art therapy

Narcan kits will be distributed and training will also be available.

"Crash Course to College (CC2C)," offered by the George B. Thomas Learning Academy (GBTLA) Saturday School, provides one-to-one help or a small group session to assist you with the college application process. Get started on your college journey on Saturday's at 8:30 a.m. Fees are $85 for non-FARMS recipients and $40 for FARMS recipients. Register here.
