Dear Briggs Chaney Middle School Families,

Thank you for your patience as we have been coordinating the logistics for returning personal belongings to students. This year has truly been one filled with unprecedented events! Many of you have received the message from MCPS about the curbside End-of-Year Closeout Process for Families. Our school will offer curbside pick-up of items on June 15, 16, 18 and 19.  We will provide this service to cars from 9 am – 4 pm, on these days. We ask you to follow the schedule details provided below so that we can ensure an orderly distribution. We have scheduled this time to distribute classroom and locker items for the curbside retrieval of your child’s belongings in an effort to service our families, while decreasing the risks to our community.  There will also be an opportunity for students to return MCPS materials such as school owned instruments, books, and music shirts.  Chromebooks do NOT have to be returned unless the student is not returning to an MCPS school next year.

Curbside Pick up & Delivery Procedure(s):
-MCPS Staff will follow the CDC guidelines, maintain social distancing and will be wearing face coverings and gloves. 

-Drivers & occupants are not permitted to exit the vehicle.

-Please have a VISIBLE SIGN with your child's FIRST/LAST NAME & GRADE LEVEL so staff can quickly gather your bag & place in the car.

-If you have children in multiple grade levels you can pick one of their timeslots to get materials for all children.  Please make sure your VISIBLE SIGN has all of the children’s FIRST/LAST NAMES & GRADE LEVELS.

-If you are picking up for another family, that family will have to contact the school to authorize you to pick up their child’s items.  This needs to be done in writing by emailing the principal at Stephanie_S_Sheron@mcpsmd.org

-All pick up will be done in the bus loop at the front of the school.  Security staff will be directing traffic.  There will be two lanes.  One lane for pick up ONLY and another lane for pick up AND drop off of MCPS items.

-If you are dropping off MCPS items, please put them in a bag labeled clearly with your child’s name and grade.  If the item is too big for a bag please attach a label to the item with the appropriate information.

-Yearbooks will also be distributed on these days.  If you ordered a yearbook please indicate that on your sign with the child’s name and grade level so staff can retrieve the item for you.

-Pick up of materials is OPTIONAL and only necessary if your child left items of value in their lockers at school or you have something to return to the school.

-For our 8th grade students we are not only distributing personal belongings but 8th grade care packages for every student as well!  Even if you have no items to pick up or drop off, please come to get your child’s care package at the designated time on June 15 or June 16!

-If you can’t make your designated time by grade level and last name there will be “open” slots at the end of each day for you to come (see schedule below).  If you cannot make either the assigned time or open slot please email the administrative secretary, Ms. Jaeger, at Penelope_Jaeger@mcpsmd.org and we will coordinate another pick up opportunity at a later date.

-We will accommodate walk up persons as well, but we asks individuals to follow similar guidelines to those when you enter Montgomery County businesses.  The walk up area will be staged by the main entrance to the school.
