TPMS Magnet Program

May 21 2023 Update

Hello Magnet Families!

"No laughing at dancing"

Last week was our 2nd week of testing week and so we don't have images of classwork in this week's update, so, instead, I thought I'd share this picture from my four-year old.  She was dancing in our kitchen when her brother laughed at her.  She was embarassed and upset and decided to make a "no laughing" sign on an oyster shell (it's her attempt at a "no" with a picture of someone laughing.)

It's a good reminder that when we let our guard down, take a risk,  and move outside our comfort zone, that's when we are most vulnerable and that's when we are grateful to teachers who keep their rooms safe.

With only a month left in this school year, the classes are wrapping up topics and field trips and special events are abundant.

Check out the table below for information about make-up testing dates, field trips, and more.

Magnet Families Needed and Wanted on the PTSA

Magnet families are under-represented on the TPMS PTSA.  Can you help change that?

Leadership roles and parent volunteers are what make TPMS great, and the more involvement there is, the better school is for yours and everyone else's child.

Below is a list of open positions and needed volunteers RIGHT NOW.  Please take a look and email TPMS.PTA.president@gmail.com if you are interested.

Shhh.....

Mr. Goerhing doesn't receive these updates, so please keep this part a secret from him...

In June, beloved teacher, mentor and Takoma Park community pillar Bryan Goehring will retire from the public school system. Because he is so humble, he is attempting to leave quietly.  His adoring students, the TPMS Difference Makers, and his fellow staff members will not let him get away so easily. He would never want a party for himself or a gift (he’d just donate it), so please consider supporting  Tommy’s Pantry in Bryan’s honor by making a financial donation.

Note: Bryan does not know about this fundraiser; it will close on June 16 so that we may present him with the total raised in his honor.
