New Gradebook

The school year is divided into 4 nine week periods. The report cards for the first grading period will be given to parents at parent/teacher conferences on November 10th and 17th. Report cards will be mailed home for periods 2, 3 and 4 for grades 1-5. Interim reports are mailed home during the middle of each nine week period. Kindergarten students receive a report card at the end of each semester. Kindergarten students do not receive an interim report.

For the school year 2017-2018, report cards will be mailed on:

  • February 5, 2018
  • April 19, 2018
  • June 21, 2018

Parents need to take a highly active role in their children's lives, especially in promoting high academic success. Parents need to work closely with school staff and the community to ensure that their child is receiving the best services possible. Parent conferences are an integral part of this teamwork. A parent and/or guardian may request a conference at any time during the school year.

On November 10 & 17, 2017, school will be dismissed early specifically to enable teachers to hold parent conferences with each parent and/or guardian at the end of the first marking period.

Grading and Reporting Policy

According to the revised Grading and Reporting Policy, the meaning of a grade has two important aspects. First, the policy states that a grade is an “accurate reflection of student’s achievement.” Second, the policy states that reported achievement is “compared to grade-level or course expectations.”

In grades 1-12, grades will be based on academic performance and will not include nonacademic (learning skills) areas. Other information about learning skills such as effort and behavior will be reported separately on report cards.
