MCPS Systemwide Athletics Director Dr. Jeff Sullivan has been elected as the new president of the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA). The MPSSAA is the governing body that oversees interscholastic high school athletics for 24 public school systems in the state. Dr. Sullivan was nominated by a committee representing all nine districts in Maryland.

Dr. Sullivan has been serving as the President-elect since June 2022. The Board of Control met on Wednesday, Dec. 6 to cast a unanimous vote on his transition to President. He will now help lead the association’s executive council.

“I am looking forward to getting out to other districts to hear from counties about their interests, said Dr. Sullivan, “the diversity of Maryland is a beautiful thing and hearing what the needs are from the Eastern shore to Montgomery County and beyond will help address the interests of our student athletes, coaches, and programs.”

Dr. Sullivan will begin his two-year term as president in June 2024.
