Students Learn How to Write and Present a Board of Education Testimony

High school students attended a one-day workshop to learn how to write and present a Board of Education (BOE) testimony in front of board members to effectively advocate for the changes they want to see in their schools.This one-day workshop helped Black and Hispanic students who are greatly underrepresented in student BOE testimonials. 

Central office staff and community members coached students on how to communicate their observations and needs. At the end of the workshop, selected students read their testimonies in a BOE meeting simulation.

This event kicked-off Remembrance and Reconciliation month in November.
