The Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp (JROTC) program develops citizenship, leadership, self-discipline, and sets forth a foundation for success. Students may select either the Army JROTC program offered at Magruder High School, or the Navy JROTC program offered at Gaithersburg, Kennedy, Paint Branch, and Seneca Valley high schools. Absolutely no military obligation is required; however, upon graduation, students can gain advanced military pay grades. Reserve Officer Training Corp and military academy scholarships may be available for qualified students.
We all have a role to prepare every student for success after high school. This includes ensuring our students are supported with the academic knowledge and career competencies outlined in The Pathway for College, Career, and Community Readiness. Career Advising is also a part of this formula. As part of the Blueprint Pillar 3: College and Career Readiness (CCR), all secondary students will be supported through individualized career advising services. The vision for career advising in our district is to help all Montgomery County Public School students develop life-long career management skills; and, that all students will be able to vividly describe their own strengths, interests, and workplace values; identify how they are expanding their skills and knowledge; describe the various opportunities ahead of them; and describe their goals for their future.
