Senior Updates

  • We are looking forward to seeing our seniors who have chosen in-person learning starting the week of April 6th. While the building may look and feel a little different, it will be great to have students in classrooms and we can’t wait to see them!

  •  Senior class shirts are now available to purchase! This year, we are selling the shirts at cost, so each shirt only costs $9! We are also offering the special opportunity to sponsor a shirt for another senior who may not be able to purchase one this year. Please consider donating the cost of a shirt with your order so that another student is able to get theirs! We hope these shirts will be a way to continue to build community for the Class of 2021. Please visit the Wootton online store (http://sprigg.org/woottonstore/shirts/) by March 12th to place your order! If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Cocker, the 12th grade administrator, or Ms. Roberts and Mr. Schwartz, the 12th grade class sponsors.

  •  MCPS is providing all graduating seniors with graduation regalia this year. This will be at no cost to students and families. Every student will receive a cap, gown, tassel and stole. If you have not ordered a cap and gown, please email Ms. Rice, our graduation coordinator, no later than Wednesday, March 10th with your height and weight measurements so that the right size gown can be ordered for you. Our graduation team is busy making plans for all graduation options that have been presented by the county.

  • There has been a change in graduation requirements for the Class of 2021. Recently the MCPS Board of Education voted to adopt the State credit requirements for 2021 graduates. The requirement for math is now 3 credits (one must be in Algebra and one in Geometry), for physical education the requirement is 0.5 credit, and overall, twenty-one credits. All other subject areas and elective requirements remain the same. The state requirement for SSL hours is 75 hours. SSL hours need to be completed as soon as possible as this is a graduation requirement.  Spring break remains unchanged, beginning Monday March 29th until Tuesday April 6th. This is an excellent time to complete any outstanding SSL hours!

  • Seniors who have opted to return in person will be sent a parking application. Parking is only for seniors who are returning to in person learning. Wootton is a closed campus and students must remain on campus during lunchtime.

For more information or questions regarding senior updates, please contact Jane_E_Cocker@ mcpsmd.org.  Thank you!

Junior Updates

Junior Red Folder Meetings: Our juniors will have  mandatory college counseling meetings with their counselor during Homeroom on Tuesday, March 16th (9:00- 10:00 am). Counselors will meet with their students in their zoom room to share important next steps in the college application process.  This includes a college information packet, a college planning worksheet, upcoming important dates, common application essay prompts, a financial aid packet, a sign up to meet one on one with your counselor, and more. The counselors look forward to seeing all of their juniors soon!
