Materials Distribution

  • Thursday, February 11th from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
  • Friday, February 12th from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm

Distribution will take place in Wootton’s lower parking lot. Out of an abundance of caution, we are asking that families remain in their cars while picking up materials. Prior to coming to Wootton, please print clearly your student’s name, ID number and the courses for which you are picking up materials. Please display this information on the passenger side of the vehicle. A member of our team will place the items in the back seat or trunk of your vehicle.

Fall Athletic Registration is Now Open

MCPS and Wootton High School are excited to announce that registration for Fall Sports is now open! Students must be registered by a parent through the MCPS ParentVUE Portal. Registration will close on February 22. The Fall “season” will begin on February 27th and go through April 17th.   Information regarding the registration process can be found on the Wootton Web page under the athletics tab or you can go to Woottonsports.com

 

Black History Month

Wootton’s school newspaper, Common Sense, is proud to announce a first-ever partnership with the Black Student Union in celebration of Black History Month. Throughout February you will find articles co-written by members of BSU and Common Sense. The first article, by seniors Maya Erd and Angelique Sousani-Twumasi focuses on BSU goals and activities and Sousani-Twumasi’s perspective on being Black at Wootton.

County Launches Food Access Survey (English and Spanish)
The Montgomery County Food Council launched a short 8-question COVID-19 Community Food Access survey seeking input from residents to guide Montgomery County food security initiatives in 2021. Residents’ feedback on how the County can best serve our communities and improve food access during and after the COVID-19 pandemic is essential to informing program implementation, policy development, and future funding priorities.

Encuesta sobre Acceso a Alimentos en el Condado de Montgomery durante COVID-19

¿Cómo puede el Condado ayudarle a usted y a su comunidad a tener mejor acceso a alimentos durante la pandemia del COVID-19? ¡Sus opiniones son esenciales! El Consejo de Alimentos del Condado de Montgomery, una organización sin fines de lucro local que conecta y coordina los servicios de los proveedores de asistencia alimentaria, quiere escuchar la opinión de los residentes para guiar los planes de distribución de alimentos en el Condado en el 2021.

Por favor responda las preguntas de la encuesta a continuación. Después de haber respondido a esta breve encuesta de 9 preguntas, se le ingresará en un sorteo para ganar una tarjeta de regalo de $25 de un supermercado local. Un total de 73 tarjetas de $25 van a ser sorteadas. También tendrá la oportunidad de responder preguntas adicionales para participar en otro sorteo de una tarjeta de regalo de $50. Un total de 27 tarjetas de $50 serán sorteadas.


Online Homework Help Service Begins Feb. 1 (English and Spanish)
MCPS has announced a new, free student online tutoring and homework help service that will begin with the second semester on February 1. Tutorme.com is a secure, online resource that will be easily accessible through MCPS student Canvas and StudentVUE accounts and will offer on-demand assistance on any subject from grade 3 through grade 12. El servicio de ayuda para las tareas en línea comienza el 1ro de febrero 

MCPS ha anunciado un nuevo servicio gratuito de tutoría en línea para estudiantes y ayuda con las tareas que comenzará con el segundo semestre el 1ro de febrero. Tutorme.com es un recurso en línea seguro al que se podrá acceder fácilmente a través de las cuentas de MCPS Student Canvas y StudentVUE y se ofrecerá en  en cualquier tema desde el tercer grado hasta el grado 12.  Más información

 

Adjustments Made to Semester 2 Secondary Schedules (English and Spanish)
In response to feedback about virtual learning at the secondary level, adjustments are being made to improve the student/teacher experience in virtual learning, promote student well-being, and provide flexible options for student schedules. These adjustments for the second semester are in addition to adjustments that went into effect for the second marking period. Learn more about the changes here

 

Ajustes realizados a los horarios de secundaria del segundo semestre

En respuesta a la información recibida sobre el aprendizaje virtual en el nivel secundario, se están realizando ajustes para mejorar la experiencia de los estudiantes/maestros en el aprendizaje virtual, promover el bienestar de los estudiantes y brindar opciones flexibles para los horarios de los estudiantes.  Estos ajustes para el segundo semestre se suman a los ajustes que entraron en vigor para el segundo período de calificaciones. Más información


HBCU Fair Set for Feb. 12-13 (English and Spanish)
The Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) College Fair will be held virtually on Friday, Feb. 12 and Saturday, Feb. 13.

Although focused on high school juniors, seniors and their parents/guardians, this event is an opportunity for students in Grades 8–12 and their parents/guardians to meet with representatives from more than 50 historically black colleges and universities. The event will include workshops and panel discussions on financial aid, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion, scholarship opportunities and college life. Qualified seniors will also be able to receive on-the-spot admission decisions and scholarship offers during the event.

Feria de HBCU programada para el 12 y 13 de febrero

La Feria de Universidades y Colegios Históricamente Negros (HBCU) se llevará a cabo de manera virtual el viernes 12 y sábado, 13 de febrero.

Aunque se enfoca en estudiantes de los grados 11 y 12 y sus padres/guardianes, este evento es una oportunidad para que los estudiantes de los grados 8 al 12 y sus padres/guardianes se reúnan con representantes de más de 50 colegios y universidades históricamente negras.  El evento incluirá talleres y paneles de discusión sobre ayuda financiera, cómo completar la Solicitud Gratuita de Ayuda Federal para Estudiantes (FAFSA), oportunidades de y vida universitaria.  Estudiantes del grado 12 que estén calificados también podrán recibir decisiones de admisión en el lugar y ofertas de becas durante el evento.
