Ultimate Frisbee

Coach and WJ dad: Barney Krucoff

Captain: Eliot Eisen, WJ Sophomore

Poets & Pitchers is an Ultimate Frisbee team primarily for students at Walt Whitman (Poets) and Walter Johnson (Pitchers) high schools. We also have a lot of players from Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School. We are a community organization with no formal affiliation with any of the schools.

Ultimate is a fun, popular, and athletic team sport. Our players learn individual skills, team strategies, and sportsmanship, including the spirit of the game. We practice and compete in spring and fall against other schools from Montgomery County, the rest of Maryland, D.C., and Northern Virginia. Our  primary league is organized by Montgomery Recreation - check out their video. No previous experience is required to join our team. Both boys and girls are encouraged to play.

Poets and Pitchers was founded in Spring 2015. In 2016, we finished second in the Maryland State Tournament, and we won a state title in 2017.

Spring 2019 season logistics: Practices will start on the first weekend in March. The week of March 11, we will start practices from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Bethesda. Games are played on weekends with occasional all-day tournaments. The season will end with the State Championships in May. Fees for the season are TBD.
