Portrait of Cavena Griffith

It is with immense pride that I introduce myself as the new principal of Harriet R. Tubman Elementary School. I am honored and humbled to have been selected to pioneer the 210th school in Montgomery County Public Schools.

I am committed to developing a shared vision around excellence, equity, engagement, and high expectations. At my core, I believe that a school leader should work diligently to provide an equitable learning experience for students and staff. Equity is a right, not a privilege. As your leader, I will be committed to engaging all stakeholders, recognizing that the daily experiences of our families contribute to their engagement at our school. I will model and clearly communicate high expectations for staff and students. With the key values of equity, engagement, and high expectations, I am confident that we will be on our journey to excellence.

I am a native Marylander. Beyond my professional career, I share my life with my dear husband, Ramone, who is my strongest supporter. Ramone and I are avid baseball, basketball, and football fans.

I look forward to the naming of our school as well as the formation of our new building. I am ready to begin our work together as we prepare for the 2022-2023 school year.

I look forward to connecting with each of you. If you have any questions, concerns or ideas, please feel free to email me at Cavena_J_Griffith@mcpsmd.org.
