TPMS Magnet Program

Februray 26 2023 Update

Hello Magnet Families!  It's been a busy, busy week at Takoma Park this week.  We continued our celebration of Black History Month with special events at lunch and afterschool including student performances from our Minority Scholars Program, and an evening poetry reading event sponsored by our PTSA.  We ended the week with a "frosty formal" dance which was a huge success.  To pull the curtain back a bit, I've included pictures from this week's joint Clemente-TPMS magnet teacher planning session where magnet teachers from both schools met to find ways to improve the engagement and rigor in both of our programs.  Check the table below to learn about upcoming events, a need for snack donations, and information on upcoming testing.

Snacks Needed

The counseling office is seeking healthy snack donations for hungry students and students facing food insecurity. Here are a few examples of the healthy, individually-packed snacks they need: granola bars, Fruits on the Go (fruit cups), fruit snacks, crackers (Ritz is mighty popular), nuts in packages (also popular), fruit bars, trail mix, granola, and breakfast bars.

You can:

  • Drop off items at the school's front office.
  • Ship them using TPMS - Amazon Smile, buying from the TPMS - Healthy Snack Donations for Counseling Office Amazon List or using it as a guide. Shopping with TPMS - Amazon Smile means that Amazon will donate part of your purchase price to the PTA!
Please have all packages go to "The Counseling Office" at Takoma Park Middle School. Please do not donate unhealthy snacks, junk food, chips, or items that are not in single-servings. Feel free to reach out to me with questions.

Ms. Lever, Ms. Litten, and the rest of the TPMS Counseling Office thank you for contributing to this effort!
