TPMS Magnet Program
November 11 2022 Update
Hello Magnet Families. I'm writing this update a little sooner than usual to call attention to Saturday's STEM Day at the Hefner Park Community Center (a short walk from TPMS). It is a day just for middle school students to celebrate STEM activities, and a Takoma Park representative was handing out fliers for it during lunches this week. If you want something fun to do with your kids on Saturday, this is just the thing. In science classes, students were working on chemical reactions, which reminded me of an interesting video that Epsom salts are mostly made of water--something you can discover simply by heating them. If your kids have been enjoying learning about chemical reactions, they might like the video I posted above. Our Minority Scholars went to the African American museum today, which is an example of some of the cool things we do with our students to inspire and connect. Today was also our Open House. It was a huge success and great to see so many parents attend. You are always welcome to visit our school--even better, come and volunteer at lunchtime (I've included links below).
Volunteer at Lunch
The number of parent volunteers has dropped lately. We need you to come and support us at lunchtime. Lunch volunteers provide that extra presence which makes lunches safe and fun. It is only 40 minutes, it is easy to do, and helps tremendously.
