Important PTA Information

Dear Stonegate families,

As this year’s President of the Stonegate PTA, I’m looking forward to meeting new families and reconnecting with returning ones in the coming weeks. We have been hard at work over the summer getting our bearings as a new PTA Board and planning for the year, and look forward to sharing more details with you at our first PTA meeting next Tuesday, August 31 at 6pm on Zoom. We are excited that the architect team designing our new building will also join us for an update on the plans at that meeting. All are welcome and Spanish interpretation will be provided.

This will be a year of transition for our community – transitioning back to in-person learning this fall and transitioning to the holding school in January while our new school is being built – and the PTA is here to support, strengthen and empower it, with a laser focus on our mission: “To make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.”

We want to be sure that the programming we are planning and the issues we are advocating for are aligned to our mission, meet the needs of our students and help our community thrive. To accomplish that, we need your input. One of the best ways you can support the PTA is to become a member of the PTA! It enables us to do more for our students and strengthens our voice at all levels. I hope that you will join us this year and lend your voice, time, and/or talents to make the PTA the best it can be.

One area that has emerged for PTA support now is outdoor lunch. Principal Jones and her team are working hard to finalize a plan that ensures all students have space to eat outdoors and the PTA will be reaching out soon with opportunities to support this initiative. If there are other areas you are passionate about, please let us know!

Saturday, August 28: Playdates for kindergarten and first graders

Kindergarten Playdate (1-2p – Stonegate Elementary Playground): Come meet your fellow classmates and kindergarten teachers for a playdate on the school playground before the first day of school! The PTA will provide popsicles, water and juice boxes. All who attend must wear masks.
1^st Grade Playdate (11a-12p – Stonegate Elementary Playground): Since many 1^st graders missed out on the opportunity to meet friends in-person during school last year, this is a chance to meet friends new and old, and meet the 1^st grade teachers before the first day of school! The PTA will provide popsicles, water and juice boxes. All who attend must wear masks.

Tuesday, August 31: 6-7:30pm (Zoom)

First PTA meeting of the year: Meet the new PTA Board, learn about our vision for the year and how you can get involved, and hear about the plans for the new school building from the architect team. Details on how to join will be shared via email from the school on Monday, August 30.

Friday, September 10: 5-7pm

Welcome Back-to-School Event: Join the Stonegate administration and the PTA for a co-hosted back-to-school picnic complete with music, food trucks, and games/activities for kids. Bring a blanket or chairs and set up on the back hill of school to enjoy an evening of fun meeting new friends and reconnecting with ones. Food will be available for purchase or feel free to bring your own picnic to enjoy! All families are welcome! Masks will be required when social distancing cannot be observed. [RAIN DATE: September 17 from 5-7p)
