Dear Sligo Creek Families,

I want to thank you for attending our Open House Sessions today.  I know that we have a lot of information to cover and we will continue to update our school families.  Thanks again for your patience and support during this process.  I wanted to let our families know that we will be posting our Master Schedule on our website later today.  


SCES Material Distribution (FRIDAY, August 28, 2020) - We will hold our material distribution day this Friday, August 28, 2020.  We will be following our same procedures on how we distributed chromebooks.

*For any families, who did not pick up chromebooks, they can pick up on as well during the material distribution.

If you are not able to visit the school on these dates, please contact the school to make other arrangements.

Schools will contact families to provide information for subsequent opportunities to pick up additional materials as inventory arrives and individual class or student needs are identified.

Curbside Pickup & Delivery Procedures:

  • All visitors must wear a face covering and have a VISIBLE SIGN with child’s first and last name, grade level, and student  ID #.

  • MCPS staff will follow the CDC guidelines, maintain physical distancing, and wear face coverings.

  • Drivers and occupants are not permitted to exit the vehicle unless asked by staff to meet the needs of the student.

  • Accommodations will be made for walk ups.


Student login information and passwords:

Login and passwords will not be changed for the start of the school year. Later this fall, more information will be provided to families regarding the required password changes for students.


Student login information will be provided to all families via an email to the email address on record for the students’ guardians. If you need additional assistance with login information, please email Mrs. Miller at


MCPS issued MiFi for internet connection:

Due to limited supply, internet MiFis will not be available during school distributions. The device distribution team will take note of requests. Pick up arrangements will be made once inventory is received. As a reminder, the MiFis are intended for families who do not have home internet options. Those with weak or problematic internet connections should contact their service provider to ensure they are receiving the service for which they are entitled. Other issues may be solved by moving the home router to a more central location. Each MiFi device can support multiple connections.


MCPS will be enforcing user responsibility; the Chromebook login screen will be updated to reflect the expectations and costs associated with repair should a device be physically damaged by neglect, accident, or intent. Acceptance of the MCPS device implies consent of the policy which can also be viewed online. The login screen and MCPS website outline the process for return and repair.

Update from August 24, 2020

Dear Sligo Creek Families,

I wanted to send my Sunday Update out for our school families.  I appreciate your patience as we continue to work through any communication updates for our database.  Please know that we will also put on the weekly updates on the website as well.

Please review the following important information for the upcoming week:

1.  Chromebooks - We had two successful distribution days for our new chromebooks.  Any families who did not have the opportunity to come, please know that more days and times will be scheduled soon.

2.  Student Materials - We are finalizing our bags for student material pick up.  We will be scheduling this soon for families.  SCES was waiting on a few more books for students but expect to be up to date by this week.  Once we have that in place, we will send dates and times for pick up.

3.  Student Supplies - Information will be sent home this week on updates for student supplies.  Parents will be able to use this list to assist with preparation for working from home.  More information will be coming with the list.  

4.  Teacher Welcome - Our students will be receiving a welcome message from their teachers on Tuesday, August 25th.  The communication is set for this date only.  

5.  SCES Open House - SCES has two open house sessions scheduled for Thursday, August 27th.  This will allow parents some flexibility to meet the teacher and to hear some information on the upcoming year.

1st Session is 3:15 - 3:30 pm

2nd Session is 3:45 - 4:00 pm

Please note that this is an opportunity to briefly meet the teacher, further details and information will continue to be sent home directly to parents.

6. Master Schedule - The class schedules will be shared on Thursday, August 27th.  We will have this posted on our school website.  Individual Class List will be available as well.  

7. First Day of School - Please note that our first day of school will be Monday August 31st.  

Please know that we will continue to send important information.  A parent blast will be going out every Sunday night.  We will also be posting this under a new tab on the Website labeled, Principal's Corner.
