Inclement Weather & Early Release 

 School Closing

Schools may be closed when weather conditions are severe. Parents should listen to area radio and television stations, MCPS TV (Comcast Channel 34/998, Verizon Channel 36, and RCN Channel 89, Outlook, on the Internet at montgomeryschoolsmd.org, the myMCPS mobile app, and a recorded telephone message at 301-279-3673. Emergency announcements are available by signing up for Alert MCPS text and e-mail notifications and on the MCPS Twitter and Facebook accounts. A decision will be shared by no later than 5:00 a.m. on the potential closing day.

 Delayed Opening

When conditions dictate, a two-hour delayed opening may be instituted. All field trips are cancelled. Delayed openings will be announced by 5:00 a.m. over area radio and television station. Parents should listen to area radio and television stations listed above in the school closing section.

Lunch for Delayed Opening - no recess

12:55 - 1:30 pm	1st & 2nd *some classes will eat in their classroom with coverage provided.

Early Dismissal

Schools will be notified of early dismissal by 11:00 a.m. through the Emergency Computer Message System and via broadcast on the emergency cellular telephones in each school. Weather conditions that develop during the morning may cause an early dismissal, 2.5 hours earlier than regular school closing time. In such an event, students will be provided lunch and will be transported home 2.5 hours early on regular afternoon routes.
