Summer School Opportunities for Credit & Enrichment
Credit Bearing Courses for High School Students (MCPS)
Students who are interested in taking a summer school course to earn credit(s) toward their high school graduation requirement, should register at MCPS Virtual Summer School. Students will have the opportunity to complete original credit courses in Health, Foundations of Technology and Computer Science. The fees for all original credit courses for FY21 have been changed to a full fee of $150, and a reduced fee of $75, based on family income, for all courses taken as original credit or to earn a higher grade in a repeat course. Students who need credit recovery will also have the opportunity to register for courses at MCPS Virtual Summer School. Students taking a repeat credit course will be able to take the course at no cost.
Students may register for a total of two (2) half-credit summer courses. All courses will run for five (5) weeks from July 13, 2020 through August 15, 2020. Semester A and Semester B courses will be offered concurrently during the program dates. Students must attend all mandatory weekly webinars to earn credit for their course(s). Upon completion of the course(s), students will earn a traditional letter grade. If you have additional questions regarding credit-bearing summer school courses, please contact your school counselor.
Sherwood High School Summer Enrichment Courses (Sherwood High School)
As a result of the evolving circumstances associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, Sherwood High School will offer a variety of summer program enrichment experiences. The goal of our courses is to maximize student engagement during the summer months, address learning recovery, and offer engaging opportunities that are of interest to our students. Sherwood High School’s enrichment programs are an enrichment opportunity only and are non-credit bearing. Sherwood’s enrichment courses are being designed as an all-virtual model and are at no cost to students. Students who need to apply for credit bearing courses, or credit recovery, should apply on the MCPS virtual summer school page.
To register for a Sherwood High School Summer Enrichment Course, please complete the Sherwood High School Summer Enrichment Registration Form no later than June 30, 2020.
