Homecoming

Homecoming is a week-long celebration of school spirit, usually held in October or early November.  

Activities, which vary from year-to-year, are coordinated by the Student Government Association (SGA) and, in the past, have included:

  • Spirit Days (Monday- Friday)
    • Themed dress-up spirit days
    • Examples include Sports & College Day, Wacky Weird Day, Green & Gold Day, etc.
    • Class with most participation each day wins spirit stick
     
  • Canned Food Drive
    • Class with most donations receives spirit stick
    • Individuals entered for a free ticket drawing
     
  • Wall Decorations/Competition
    • Each class assigned a wall or hallway and theme
    • Designated time to decorate
    • Judging based on several pre-determined criteria
    • Class with best hallway wins spirit stick
     
  • Homecoming Court Elections - Underclassmen
    • Each underclass elects a knight and a maiden
    • Elected students represent their graduating class during the week
     
  • Homecoming Court Nominations - Seniors
    • Six men and six women nominated for Homecoming Court
     
  • Spirit Walk (Friday morning)
    • Indoor parade begins before school
    • Clubs/organizations walk around the main floor
     
  • Pep Rally (Friday afternoon)
    • Introduction of fall sports teams
    • Performances by cheerleaders, poms, step team & NJROTC
    • Presentation of Homecoming Court
    • Hypefest (classes compete for the best cheer)
    • Presentation of spirit stick winners
     
  • Parade (Friday after-school)
    • Outside, around the school perimeter
    • All school organizations invited
    • Cars decorated and judged for design, originality
     
  • Football Game (Friday night)
    • Homecoming Court introduced
    • Senior King and Queen crowned
     
  • Homecoming Dance (Saturday night)
    • Students must purchase tickets
    • Held in the gym
    • Semi-formal dress code, no jeans or sweats
    • Light snacks, coat check provided
