RHMS SCiENCE DEPARTMENT
Michelle Smetanick, Science Content Specialist
“The important thing in science is not so much to obtain new facts as to discover new ways of thinking about them.” ---William Bragg Sr.
The goal of the Rocky Hill Science Department is to facilitate a learning environment that allows students to discover the natural world through Problem Based Learning. Each unit requires students to tackle a problem through mastery and application of the content. Using the Engineering Design Process, students develop an understanding of concepts through asking questions; making predictions; performing experiments; analyzing data; engaging in discourse and researching information. Students ultimately work to explore solutions; design ideas and communicate results.
