NEW MCPS COVID-19 PROTOCOLS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS - Effective for Winter & Spring Seasons (Basketball & Soccer)
 
Beginning Monday, December 6, the start of the winter sports season, all high school and eligible middle school student-athletes will be required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination prior to participation. This requirement applies to the winter and spring sports seasons, as well as all out-of-season activities conducted through MCPS Athletics. Intramurals

2021-22 Athletics & Intramural Calendar
Intramural Permission Slip (.pdf) [Updated 8/6/19] 

Intramurals are an extension of our Physical Education program and are open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Days and times of intramurals are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays from 3:00-4:20pm. Students can get home by riding one of the activity buses provided, or may be picked up by a parent/guardian no later than 4:20. There is no cost to participate in intramurals, but students must turn in an Intramural Parent Permission Slip before participating (one permission slip covers all intramurals for the entire year). Intramurals offered this year are activities like Archery, Tennis/Pickleball, Dodgeball, Soccer, Volleyball, Badminton, Flag Football, 3v3 Basketball, and Cheerleading. These activities will occur during various times throughout the year. Specific dates for each intramural can be found on the Intramurals & Athletics Calendar link listed below. If your student has recently tested positive for COVID-19 and is unable to be vaccinated, they should apply for a medical exemption by having their physician fill out the Medical Exemption Form.
 
Athletics: 
Basketball Tryouts are fast approaching for our 7th & 8th grade students. Tryouts will be held December 8, 9, & 10 after school. All athletes are expected to attend ALL tryout days, and should have all paperwork turned in to Ms. Brouillard NO LATER THAN Monday, December 7th
Any 7th or 8th grader wishing to participate MUST meet the following criteria:
  • Be academically eligible going into Quarter 2 with a minimum of a 2.0 GPA
  • Be able to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination (last shot must take place no later than Tuesday, November 23rd in order to be considered fully vaccinated)
  • Have a current physical signed by a physician and dated within the last 2 years either on file in the Health Room, turned in to Ms. Brouillard, or uploaded through the ParentVue Portal (immunization records do not count as a physical). 
  • Have a parent permission slip turned in to Ms. Brouillard
