The orchestras at Quince Orchard High School are comprised of two ensembles (Concert Orchestra and Symphonic Orchestra). Both orchestras meet during the regularly scheduled school day and receive credit for courses. Students enrolled in Symphonic Orchestra receive honors credit.

The Concert Orchestra is a traditional string orchestra that focuses on the development of individual students’ technique and musicianship through performance of outstanding music. This orchestra is a performing ensemble and performs concerts in the fall, winter and spring. This group also performs at the MCPS District II Orchestra Festival. Membership in this group is open to any and all students.

The Symphonic Orchestra is the premiere string orchestra at Quince Orchard. The Symphonic Orchestra performs traditional and contemporary orchestral literature. In addition to performing string orchestra literature this group also performs full orchestra literature for both the winter and spring concerts. This ensemble performs annual fall and spring concerts as well as at the MCPS District II Orchestra Festival. Membership in the group is determined by instrumentation needed and player ability.
