As Director of Orchestras, Mrs. Kirchhoff oversees all of the orchestras as well as teaches two levels of guitar at to QO. Prior to being hired at Quince Orchard in 2005, Mrs. Kirchhoff taught at Roberto Clemente MS for two years and was the conductor of the Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra Preparatory Orchestra for four years. For her undergraduate degree Mrs. Kirchhoff attended the University of Maryland on the Creative and Performing Arts Scholarship. Mrs. Kirchhoff was also awarded, in her senior year of high school, the Leon Marytsz Memorial Scholarship, through PVYO, to study music education. Mrs. Kirchhoff studied privately with the National Symphony Orchestra’s own Curtis Burris. Also, while attending the University of Maryland, Mrs. Kirchhoff was president of the University of Maryland’s student MENC chapter. During her time at Quince Orchard, Mrs. Kirchhoff has built the orchestra program, consistently received superior ratings at district festival, spearheaded several ninth grade initiatives and is the Elected Faculty Representative sitting on Quince Orchard’s Leadership team. In 2008 Mrs. Kirchhoff received the honor of conducting the 2008 MCPS Junior All-County Honors Orchestra. Mrs. Kirchhoff remains an active member of Music Educators National Conference, Maryland Music Educators Association, and the Maryland State Teachers Association in addition to being secretary of the MCMEA (Montgomery County Music Teachers Association).
As Director of Choirs, Mrs. Kleiner-Vilgos oversees all of the vocal ensembles as well at pit orchestras at QO. Mrs. Kleiner-Vilgos has taught for Montgomery County Public Schools since 2011 directing both instrumental and vocal performing ensembles. She also currently teaches the AP Music Theory course Prior to her position in MCPS she studied both Choral and Instrumental Music Education at the Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio. During her undergraduate training, Mrs. Kleiner-Vilgos studied flute as well as percussion, and served as President of Sigma Alpha Iota and the Central Ohio Flute Association. Mrs. Kleiner-Vilgos performs with many ensembles in the Montgomery County area, singing with The National Philharmonic Chorale and playing flute for various wind ensembles including Flutes on the Brink, Maryland Band Directors Band and The Musical Offering Flute Choir. During her time at QO, the choral program has grown from one choir to three diverse ensembles and has served on the staff of the QO Marching Band and Drama Production Team. Mrs. Kleiner-Vilgos remains an active member of National Association for Music Educators, Maryland Music Educators Association, and the American Choral Directors Association.
