Mission

Students of Olney Elementary School will succeed in our media center's collaborative and digital learning environment that supports the school's curriculum and incorporates information literacy skills into daily, cutting-edge research-based instruction and innovative programming. Students will appreciate and interpret literature in its various formats as they develop into lifelong readers.

Vision

Students at Olney Elementary School will benefit from the intellectually and culturally open environment in our media center and grow into enthusiastic and confident lifelong learners and researchers who are empowered to be successful global visionaries and critical thinkers.

Common Sense Media

Our Vision Statement for Digital Citizenship:

Students at Olney Elementary School will work to be responsible digital citizens by using information for knowledge and for pleasure ethically, safely and respectfully.

Kindergarteners through fifth graders continue to participate in learning to be responsible digital citizens through lesson plans designed by Common Sense Media. This collaboration between Common Sense Media and MCPS provides students with tools to navigate the internet safely.
