Class Recordings

Students are expected to attend all live virtual learning classes in which they are enrolled.  However, in some instances, this may not be possible due to illness or extenuating circumstances.  Students may then access the recording of the class to engage in the daily learning during an alternate time within 72 hours of the absence.  Students/Parents/Guardians may then submit a Live Virtual Lesson Absence Form to document that they engaged in the lesson and to request the unexcused absence to be reconciled to Present.  If extenuating circumstances exist, parents/guardians are encouraged to communicate with the school’s administration ahead of time.  The Live Virtual Lesson Absence Form must be completed for each documented absence. This form is also available on the MVMS website.

Required Vaccinations

Maryland state requires students receive vaccinations on a schedule determined by the CDC in order to attend pre-school programs and schools.  Students may be exempted from these requirements if a healthcare provider states that the vaccinations are medically contraindicated or for religious objections.

  • All 7th-grade families will need to provide documentation that their children received one Tdap and one MCV4 vaccination in order to enter school once we begin in-person learning.

Parents/guardians may contact their healthcare provider for a copy of their children’s vaccination records to verify which vaccinations have been received to date. In addition, parents/guardians can view and print their children’s vaccination records at the Maryland Department of Health Center for Immunizations website: https://md.myir.net

Parents/Guardians/Students please remember to check out our website for lots of important information and resources.

Thank you and have a great evening.

Sunday Message – August 30, 2020

Good evening Montgomery Village Middle School families.  This is your principal, Dr. Logan, with the first weekly roundup message of the 2020-2021 school year. Throughout the school year, we will frequently send Connect Ed messages to communicate with the MVMS community about important information, announcements, and events.

We hope that everyone had a relaxing and restful summer. We are excited to start a new school year tomorrow, Monday, August 31st and we look forward to virtually welcoming back all of our MVMS students, teachers, and staff.

MVMS teachers and staff are eager to start the new year with their students. We have remarkable educators who will keep your child’s education on track even though we have to start the year online.

As we learn together, I know that if we exercise patience and grace we can face whatever challenges arise and move through them together.

Classes begin tomorrow, Monday, August 31st. Students need to be in their first-period classes by 9:00 AM. Please see the attached schedule.

As a reminder, Friday, September 4th is a half-day of school and there is no school for students on Monday, September 7th.

Instructional Materials

Instructional materials are currently being prepared for all MVMS students. Your child does not need any of these materials to successfully start the school year. Instructional materials will be distributed as follows:

  • 6th grade – Wednesday, September 2nd
  • 7th grade – Friday, September 4th
  • 8th grade – Wednesday, September 9th

Distribution will be from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM each day. It is extremely important that you pick up the instructional materials for your child. Included in the distribution will be reading and math workbooks and art supplies for students who are enrolled in art class. If you have multiple students in different grade-levels please just come on one day.

Meal Distribution

Curbside meal service will begin on Monday, August 31st from 11:00 AM through 1:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Breakfast and lunch meals will be provided. A student must be enrolled in an MCPS school to receive these meals. Students/families will need their student identification number in order to pick up a meal. Standard meal prices will be charged and students who receive Free and Reduced-price Meals (FARMS) will continue to pay reduced rates. Payment will come from a student’s lunch account. MCPS is mailing this information home to all families, along with student ID numbers.
