January PSAT cancelled

In alignment with the Board of Education decision to delay the return of in-person instruction, the PSAT for Grade 11 students scheduled for January 26 is also cancelled. Unlike the fall SATs, which were administered on weekends by the College Board, the PSAT was scheduled during the school day with large numbers of students and staff. Given the significant increase of COVID-19 numbers in our community, administering the PSAT at this time would have presented several operational and safety challenges.

Despite this cancellation, MCPS is committed to providing ongoing access to college entrance examinations throughout spring 2021. For Grade 11 students, MCPS will be moving forward with plans to offer the SAT at no cost to students during the school day on April 13 or April 27. In addition, for Grade 11 students interested in qualifying for the National Merit Scholarship Program, they are still able to do so through alternative entry. More information on alternative entry for the National Merit Scholarship Program can be found here.
