Greencastle School Addition Update

There will be a number of upcoming opportunities for staff and community members to provide input into the design process for our school addition project. The message below will be sent via ConnectEd later today. It will also be included in upcoming Sunday messages and the November issue of the Gazette. All staff are invited to attend as well as families and community members.

MCPS has also requested a similar meeting with our ILT and PTA Board to gather additional input. That has been scheduled for Thursday, 10/24, and ILT members have been notified separately about that.

Architects have generated three schematic design ideas for our upcoming school addition. These will be presented at a community workshop on Tuesday, November 1. This workshop will be on Zoom at 6:30 p.m. This workshop immediately follows the November PTA meeting that will be at 6:00 p.m.

The design team will have a Spanish interpreter available for families who need translation. After the initial feedback from this workshop, there will be a second session on Wednesday, November 16. The second session will also be at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom.

Please join these workshops to provide input and feedback on the designs for the Greencastle addition project!

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is scheduled to begin the Schematic Design phase for an approved capital project, the Greencastle Elementary School in your neighborhood. MCPS extends an invitation to you to participate in this process. 

Everyone in attendance will have the opportunity to hear about the process for the proposed project.

The purpose of these meetings is to develop a preliminary design for the school project.  This is an evolving process whereby input from the previous meeting is incorporated into the ongoing proposed design.  These meetings are to determine spatial relationships within the school’s interior, the pedestrian and traffic flow of the site, and how the project will impact the community at large.  

The date and time for the work sessions are shown on the reverse side of this mailer.
