Dear Glenallan Community members,
We hope this message finds you and your families well! We know many spent time over the Thanksgiving break traveling, visiting with friends and family, and engaging in fun community activities. As these activities possibly involve a higher risk of exposure to COVID-19, MCPS distributed at-home rapid test kits to students and staff prior to the break.

Testing is an important way to identify individuals positive for COVID-19 who should temporarily isolate in order to prevent further transmission and keep our school community as healthy as possible. Testing is not mandatory. We are depending on our staff and families to consider their exposure risk, test, and report positive results accordingly. 

What do I do if the rapid test is positive? Please report positive tests for staff or students on the MCPS COVID-19 Reporting Form. Individuals who have a positive COVID-19 test will need to follow CDC guidelines for isolation. What do I do if the rapid test is negative? Negative test results do not need to be reported. 

Please remember that non-COVID respiratory infections like influenza and RSV are also circulating in our community.  Healthy habits include isolating when sick, good handwashing, and covering coughs and sneezes to help prevent illness. COVID-19 and influenza vaccination are available for free for Montgomery County residents.

¡Esperamos que este mensaje los encuentre a ustedes y a sus familias bien! Sabemos que muchos pasaron tiempo durante las vacaciones de Acción de Gracias viajando, visitando a amigos y familiares y participando en actividades comunitarias divertidas. Como estas actividades posiblemente implican un mayor riesgo de exposición al COVID-19, MCPS distribuyó kits de prueba rápida en el hogar a los estudiantes y al personal antes del receso.

Las pruebas son una forma importante de identificar a las personas con resultados positivos positivos para COVID-19 que deben aislarse temporalmente para evitar una mayor transmisión y mantener a nuestra comunidad escolar lo más saludable posible. La prueba no es obligatoria. Dependemos de nuestro personal y familias para considerar su riesgo de exposición y realizar pruebas e informar resultados positivos en consecuencia.

¿Qué hago si la prueba rápida es positiva? Informe las pruebas positivas para el personal o los estudiantes en el Formulario de informe de COVID-19 de MCPS. Las personas que tengan una prueba positiva de COVID-19 deberán seguir las pautas de aislamiento de los CDC. ¿Qué hago si la prueba rápida es negativa? No es necesario informar los resultados negativos de las pruebas.

Recuerde que las infecciones respiratorias no relacionadas con COVID, como la influenza y el RSV, también están circulando en nuestra comunidad. Los hábitos saludables incluyen aislarse cuando están enfermos, lavarse bien las manos y cubrirse al toser y estornudar para ayudar a prevenir enfermedades. La vacuna contra el COVID-19 y la influenza están disponibles de forma gratuita para los residentes del condado de Montgomery.
