Virtual Attendance
1. Is attendance in Zoom classes mandatory?
· A student will be marked present in one of three ways:
o Student attends a live virtual class via Zoom
o Student completes an Attendance Check-in on myMCPS Classroom during a live or recorded class
o Student engages in an online discussion thread on myMCPS Classroom during a live or recorded class.
2. What should I do if my child is going to be absent?
· Contact the attendance secretary, Elsa Banegas, at Elsa_M_Banegas@mcpsmd.org if your student is going to be absent.
· If an absence is not documented, it will be unexcused.
· If a student is absent they have 72 hours to watch the recorded teacher videos posted in myMCPS classroom and must complete the GMS Absence and Attendance Recovery Form. If they do so, a student will be marked as Present-Other.
