GMS Black History Month BINGO Challange

Attention Students!  February is Black History Month.  Did you know that the “most Googled” concert performance, guitar solo, athlete, and song remix are all by Black Americans?  Test your Black History Month knowledge by completing the BINGO sheet by the end of the month.  Bring your BINGO sheet to Room 105 by February 27th to be entered into a raffle to win prizes!

PE Swimming Information

In conjunction with the City of Gaithersburg, we are pleased to offer the opportunity to participate in a swimming unit, in physical education (PE), for three weeks (February 3 - 24) at the Gaithersburg Aquatic Center, which is connected to Gaithersburg Middle School.  Information and permission forms in English and Spanish.  If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Katie Becker or Ms. Erin Evans at 240-740-4950.

The Keeping it Safe Student Video Contest is being held now.  There are cash prizes for the winners!!  Entries are due by February 28th.  More information on guidelines and contest flyer.

Gaithersburg Cluster #8 Elementary School Boundary Study Information Meeting on 3/2 and 3/3

GMS International Night on 3/6

Join us on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. for Gaithersburg Middle School’s International Night. Come to celebrate our school’s diversity by sharing your family’s ethnicity and heritage with us! This will be an exciting, fun-filled family event with food, entertainment, display of other culture’s attires, flags, and treasures.  Students can earn 6 SSL hours if they man a table representing their culture.

Summer Camps for 2020

Registration is now open for a FREE summer coding camp at Montgomery College. The weeklong camps will run June 22-July 31, on all three campuses of Montgomery College. Meals and limited transportation will be provided. The camp is open to all current 5th, 6th and 7th graders.GMS has priority registration until February 28, so be sure to apply today at MontgomeryCanCode.com.  Flyer in English and Spanish.

Here is the student and parent information for the 2019-20 school year for GMS.

Family Life and Human Sexuality (FLHS) and Disease Prevention and Control (DPC) Units for Health Education Instruction

Students will participate in FLHS and DPC instruction unless written parent/guardian permission is submitted excluding the student from receiving instruction related to human sexuality and/or sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV/AIDS.  You may choose to have your student excused from either or both of these units.  If excused, your student will participate in other health education units of instruction under the supervision of a professional in an instructional setting.
