Science and Technology

The middle school science program engages students in the exploration of both the concepts and practices of science and engineering. At each grade level, topics in Life Science, Earth Science, Physical Science, and Engineering are interconnected to show students the relationships that exist between the sciences and the natural world.

Extracurricular activities: Invent the Future and Kid Museum

Invent the Future Challenge, a project-based, maker-learning competition for students. The challenge brings hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning opportunities to children across the Washington, D.C. region. Through a new public-private partnership between Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and the KID Museum, students in every MCPS middle school will have these opportunities. The challenge includes scholarships for intensive, skill-building workshops for economically disadvantaged students and students traditionally underrepresented in STEM.
