Career Center
The ASVAB scores interpretation session is next Tuesday from 8:00-9:00am. Students who took the ASVAB in December will receive a pass on Monday afternoon to attend this session.

Seniors! As you start to receive admission decisions from colleges you applied to please bring these results to the Career Center. We want to acknowledge you hard work through the application process and record this data accurately.

Media Center – Ever heard of the Book Face Challenge? Take a photo with a book that matches your face to look like part of the cover. Tweet your photo to @MsWard_DHSMedia to enter the contest. All students and staff can participate! The person with the best photo wins a small prize. Photos should be submitted by January 31st. The winner will be announced Friday, February 7th. Come to the media center for more details!

Poetry Contest – Do you like to write poetry? The Gaithersburg Book Festival is having a poetry contest. Up to 12 poems will be selected as finalists. The finalists will have their poems posted on the Gaithersburg Book Festival website and will appear in a video. First, second, third place, and fan favorite will be awarded gift certificates of $250, $100, $50, and $25 respectively. Entries should be no longer than one page and sent electronically. The deadline is February 20th. For more details, pick up a flyer in the media center or see the poster in the hallway near the media center.

Video Contest – Do you like to make videos? Choose Respect Montgomery is hosting their annual video contest to raise awareness for dating violence prevention and getting help. Videos should be about a minute long and address this issue. Videos can be in English or Spanish. First, second, and third place prizes are $1,000, $750, and $500 respectively. For the full set of rules, pick up a flyer in the media center or see the posters in the rotunda.
The SGA is hosting Damascus Got Talent! The talent show will be Friday, February 7th starting at 7pm. The winner will receive a $50 Amazon gift card and the Student Choice winner will receive a $25 Amazon gift card. Anyone interested in participating in the show see Ms. V in room 242 by January 24th. Admission to the show is free.

SSL opportunity for high school juniors and seniors! Be a Junior Coach for one of our local Girls on the Run teams (most located at MCPS elementary & middle schools). Earn SSL hours, build leadership skills, mentor young girls, and give back to the community. Junior Coaches are provided with all the training and materials and do not have to be runners! Apply by February 14: Stop by the SSL Bulletin Board in the second floor English Hall for application information.

SCHOLARSHIP INFO
Seniors, scholarship season is quickly approaching!

The Athletic Booster Club is proud to present two graduating seniors each a $1,000 scholarship.
The applicant’s family MUST be a member in good standing of the Booster Club by January 31st!
If you intend to apply for this scholarship, please verify if your family is a member. If not, please sign up on our website at https://www.dhsathleticboosterclub.com/membership
and click on the Register button in the middle of the page.
